Maureen Cox (McDermott), 93, of Lake Forest, IL, passed away peacefully in her home on June 23, 2024. Maureen grew up during the Great Depression on a family farm in Anita, Iowa, an experience that shaped her strength of character and instilled a compassion for others that she displayed throughout her life. She never took anything, or anyone, for granted, and she selflessly thought of the needs of others before herself. She was an active member of the Kingswood United Methodist Church, and she was guided by her faith. To the extended family that mourns her loss while celebrating her life, she was a steady hand and a guiding light. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Tom, with whom she celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last July.
